The Olympics in Greece have been going on since the Ancient Greek times. They first began in the the Ancient Greek Empire. In Ancient times, they always held the Olympics in Olympia. Today the Olympics are held in different places every year. In Ancient Greece, as long as you were a free man and spoke Greek you were allowed to enter in the Olympics. Today, the Olympics follow the same basic guideline. They consist of people that compete in different games to see which one is the best. Sure, there are a lot more games to compete in, but the Olympics derived from Ancient Greece. In 2004, the Olympics were held in Greece once again. I wasn't moved here yet, but I would imagine that people in Greece felt some kind of pride since the Olympics DID start in Greece. I wish I would have been here in Greece to see them! So, even though the games are different and more advanced, the Greeks are still to thank for creating them. After all, if they hadn't been created, what would we have to look forward to watching in the fall and summer?
Bye for now!
Ana
