Buon anno nuovo!+

12/31/10
Ciao!
This time of year is my favorite. Me,Zander and Enzo are running around town getting ready for the big meal tonight. People around here go crazy for this. Even though Florence isn't the largest city in Italy they do make a big deal for it. Julia and her family are still here and we are going to show them how we celebrate New Years here. On La Festa di San Silvestre (New Years Eve) we have a big meal with family and friends. We cook pork which stand for richness in life and lentils which stand for good fortune. After the meal, we go to a festival in which we dance and then the city puts on a big firework show at midnight. If you go to town square like we do every year they make a bonfire and people will stay there until dawn of Capodanno, (New Years Day). My dad told us storys of how my great grandpapa would always wear red everything even though the supersittion was to wear red underwear for good luck. Enzo thought it was so cool that the man that he was named aftr did that so he decided to be like him and wear red. Well for now, Ciao!

--Amore,
Isabella.
