Clothing in Greece

Hey! It's Melina.

In Ancient Greece, the Greeks wore light, loose fabric because of the warm climate. The fabric was very colorful and beautiful. The men and women both wore this; it's Greek name is a chiton. They also rarely wore shoes, but if they needed them they would wear boots or sandals. To the left is a picture of some traditional dress.

However, today we Greeks wear more modern clothes. Recently Greeks have discovered more about name brand clothing. We do have some maybe odd traditions. Such as we never wear shorts except when we are going to the beach. Women also wear a lot of light skirts and dresses.
