Sports in Switzerland are very popular to be played for personal enjoyment and they are often whatched on TV and in Stadiums. Soccer in Switzerland is called football and is very popular and takes up lots of the news reports. Only the soccer teams that are from the big cities can stay in the super league but some teams from small cities can stay in the super league. The finacial part of soccer is very risky and many of the soccer clubs here have gone bankrupt.

What is Stockholm Syndrome?

If your like me, you love your Law and Order; especially Law and Order: SVU. Well, the other day I was watching the show, and a character said something about Stockholm Syndrome. Well, I looked it up, and in fact, it's a psychiatric diagnoses. It happens when a victim is kept over a long period of time, and forms an emotional bond with there captor. It's named after a bank robbing in 1973, when robbers held employees hostage for 6 days. When the hostages were rescued, they defended their captors because they had formed an emotional bond with them. All this happened at Kreditbanken in Norrmalmstron, Stockholm. The first to use the term "Stockholm Syndrome" was a psychiatrist named Nils Bejerot; Bejerot assisted the police in getting the hostages out. I guess everything on television isn't fake!

Why Visit Greece?

Hey this is Melina again. This will be my last post.

I thought for my last post I should tell you why you should visit Greece. Maybe you can come and visit me.

There are many reasons that Greece has so much tourism. The first is that the country is gorgeous. There is also a lot of diversity in the land. Greece has beautiful beaches. Another reason is that there is a lot of history in the country. Especially from the ancient Greeks. There is a lot of craftsman. The culture is very rich.

Austria's Flag

There's an interesting legend about Austria's flag that most of the people here in Austria know. Our flag is considered to be one of the oldest flag designs in the world, apparently created sometime during the crusades. Anyway, the story says that Duke Leopold the Fifth of Austria came back from a battle with his clothes so stained with blood that when he took off his belt, there was a perfectly clean white stripe between the red.

Austria's modern day flag, of course, has this design - two red stripes on the top and bottom with a white stripe in the middle.

Beach!!!!!

Today I went to La Concha. La Concha is the nicest beach in the world. It has crystal clear waters and the softest sand ever! I am having a blast and I never want to go back to hot Madrid. Madrid never really gets that cold. Even in winter it only gets to about 40 degrees F.

Desserts in Portugal!

In Portugal many of the desserts are made out of rich egg-basesd specialities, often a pinch of cinnamon and vanilla. The most popular dessert in Portugal is the arroz doce, this dessert is also one of my favorite desserts to make. Arroz doce is a pudding flavored with cinnamon and lemon.
