The Gothenburg Sound

Hey again! It's Ilsa, and today I'm going to talk to you guys about something near and dear to my heart; music. I'm currently learning to play the guitar, and I already know how to play the cello. Basically, what some people call, "the Gothenburg sound" is melodic death metal. I love metal, especially this type of metal. This is also called melodeath; and it started here in, like, the early 90s. It combines the melodies of new wave Britsh metal, and the traditional death metal sound. This sound started with bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquility, and At The Gates. All these bands take influence from Carcass, one of the earliest melodeath bands. Even earlier than Carcass was Grotesque, which is traced via an EP released in 1988. I love these groups and their hardcore sound. Gothenburg is practically the heavy metal Mecca. All kinds of metal groups have been hear. I went Metaltown festival over the summer, this is a metal festival that has been going on since 2004. Bands from everywhere come here every year to play. My favorite artist that came to Metaltown this year was Marilyn Manson. I can't wait to go next year.

  1. Are you left handed? If so, is it hard to play the guitar if you're a lefty??
