Hei, tänään olen selittää minun jokapäiväiseen elämään!

Hello again! I bet you saw the title above me, it's in Finnish and it says "Hello, today I'm explaining my daily life!". I thought I will teach a little bit of Finnish each day to teach you a little bit about our language. It is a little difficult to learn the language, but is really fun when you know it.

Many of the times I have in Finland are hauskaa, or in english, really fun. I spend most of my days studying for college so I will have good grades, I think that I will pass all of my classes and get a job that pays a lot of money. When I have free-time, I like to go on walks around the bay near the library. I also like to go on long hikes in the wilderness with my roommate Jakra. We usually go to Saana mountain which is very fun to go to cause you have to ride a dog sled team to the base of the mountain. When we get to the base we camp for the night and we hike to the peak, and back down in a day and walk back. When in the city I sometimes participate in a "pick-up" hockey game. I like to play right wing, but sometimes I like to play center because I like the face-off.
This is my Grandfather after being shot in the face.

On the 8th of this month I get to go back to my hometown of Rautjarvi to see my uncle Henrack Hayha. He is my mothers brother and the grandson of Finlands celebrated war hero, Simo Hayha. He says he has found his log of when my grandfather was fighting in the winter war. My grandfather killed over 700 invading Russians and he was stopped by an exploding bullet which didn't kill him surprisingly. The Russians actually gave him a nickname, he was called the "Белая смерть" or The White Death". When my grandfather woke up from the injury, the war ended. I am proud of my Finnish heritage and I hope I get to learn more of my families history.

Goodbye,
Fredrik

  2. It's sad to hear that your grandfather got shot in the face, but it's amazing how he killed 700 of the invading Russians. You deserve to be proud of your Finnish Heritage!
