History of the Icelandic flag

Iceland has adopted many different flags over the years. The flag we fly today was once looked down upon. In 1915 A young man which happend to be my great great grandfather, was rowing a boat in the Reykjavik harbor flying his flag when the captian of the Danish coast gard ship arrested the man and confiscated the flag. That provoked an outrage throughout the Icelandic capital, and soon the citizens illegaly flew the flag everywhere, but the government soon had to except it because there were far too many people to arrest.
