Hello there again! It's Ilsa (duh), today I'm going to write about Sweden's Midsummer Festival! Even though the summer has long gone, and there is already snow over here, It's one of THE most important holiday's of the year! Midsummer celebrates the Summer Solctice. It's celebrated on the Friday and Saturday between the 19th and the 26th of June. Basically, we raise a large Maypole and dance around it, but before that, we completely cover the whole pole in flowers and other
types of foliage. Many will wear traditonal costumes on this day, and some will wear crowns of flowers on their heads. Midsummer comes at a time when many believe that magic is very strong, and some perform rituals to try and see into the future. Kids even pick bouquets of 9 different flowers, and put them under their pillow. This will, hopefully, bring them dreams of their future spouse! I must admit, I've tried this every year with little success. Midsummer is my favorite holiday out of the entire year, and I'm always anticipating the next one!
