My Schooling

Ciao everyone!

Annalisa again, and this time I am coming from my school. They have computers here, so I thought I would take advantage of my free period and write to you all about my schooling.

This is a picture of my school; Da Vinci Scuola privata (Da Vinci Private School). It might look old, and that makes sense, because it is pretty old! In fact, it has been around for almost 90 years! (But it does have the modern conveniences of computers. :-))

Here in Italy, the ages for attending school are different than in America. Children start school at the age of six years old, and they finish school at the age of nineteen. I've heard that people in America sometimes finish school around 24? Is that correct? Why do you stay in school for that long? Don't you want to get out of school as soon as possible? I do anyway....thankfully I have a few more years left. :-)

Anyway.....what you people in America would call "Elementary School", we call Scuola elementare. Children enter Scuola elementare when they are six years old, and they finish it after five years. My younger brother Ermanno is still in Scuola elementare, and he thinks it is divertimento! (He thinks it is fun) My older sister, Elizabetta is in scuola secondaria superiore or liceo, which is higher secondary school.

Where am I you may ask? I am in scuola secondaria di 1 grado (secondary school level one). Just because it is level one does not mean that I am not smart. In fact, everyone in my class says that I am molto intelligente! (very smart!) Our courses that we take include: English, Geography, History, Math, Science, Technology, Music, Art, Physical education(which some of you might call PE in America), Information Technology and Catholicism. My favorite subject is History, and I am terrible at Science. :-)

Alright, my teacher has just warned us that the bell will ring in five minutes.....Addio!

~Annalisa~
