This is in response to Scott C. James. He was wondering what celebrations that we have in Munich. The biggest is obviously Oktoberfest. Munich is home to the largest Oktoberfest in the world. It started when Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese were married together on the 12th of Oktober of 1810. The people of Munich were invited to attend the festivals and celebrations that were held on the fields in front of the gates of the city. It lasts from September 12 to Oktober 3. During that time, there will be about 32 beer "tents" where you can order liter large cup. This goes on the entire time for the duration. Most tents close at 11:30 though some are open till 1:30.
