Like America, in Italy you are free to practice any religion that you may chose. But in most of Italy the religion of choice is Catholisim. But long time ago the Italians belived in gods and goddeses. back then there were many gods but the head of all gods was Zeus. These gods were also mentioned in the book The Odyssey. In most Hospitals Catholic chapels are put inside, for people to pray for the sick. Also the pope lives in Rome. World youth day is also held here.
